High5 Semiconductor

High5 Semiconductor was founded in 2024 by Prof. Chik Patrick Yue of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). High5 Semiconductor focuses on developing chiplet-based semiconductor solutions for optical and wireless communication systems, with the High5 goal — high speed, power efficiency, linearity, integration and quality factor. Professor Yue brings extensive experience, including co-founding Atheros Communications in 1998, founding LiPHY Communications in 2017, and holding over 20 patents in semiconductor technologies.

High5 Semiconductor currently focuses on enhancing enterprise communication systems, with plans to advance B5G/6G applications, including satellite systems and laser drivers for optical networks.

As a recipient of funding from the Innovation and Technology Commission's RAISe+ Scheme, High5 Semiconductors' project — "Next-Gen High-End Eco-Semiconductor Chiplets for Empowering Tomorrow's Data Centers and 6G Networks", demonstrates successful translation of HKUST research into commercial products through government, industry, and university collaboration.
