Presentation by Prof. Jun ZHANG on the progress of TD Program 1 – Intelligent Open RAN during the mid-cycle review on-site visit on our 6G AoE Project in Oct 2024
 
In Phase 1 of the project, we have implemented
  • An ORAN testbed – OpenAirEdge, integrating communication and computing
  • An AI-enabled RAN controller
  • Application-aware network slicing
In Phase 2, we will
  • Deploy low-latency, mission-critical edge AI applications (e.g. robotics) on OpenAirEdge
  • Investigate end-to-end optimization for edge AI applications
  • Open source our implementations (e.g. network slicing)
  • Integration with other tasks
        • For Track 1: to test AI/ML algorithms developed in this track
        • For Track 2: to test components developed in this track (e.g. LIS)
        • For Track 3: to test network architectures for AI-based applications
