WHAT IS 6G@HK?

6G@HK is a research centre of excellence in Hong Kong, which aims to promote knowledge and scientific advancements through the provision of high standards of research, leadership, services, and education. Our 6G research project is supported by the Hong Kong government Area of Excellence (AOE) program from the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong under the project titled “6G: Wireless Access and Connectivity for an Intelligent and Sustainable World” with three participating universities in Hong Kong: HKUST, CUHK, and HKU. The AoE project is a multidisciplinary endeavor, which consists of an integrated and focused program of research, technological development, and education. The expansive project will be led by scholars who are already recognized for their world-class research records and pioneering innovations, which have made profound impacts on the field of wireless communications. By harnessing our complementary expertise along with our proven track record of collaboration, we will develop 6G technologies by carrying out groundbreaking basic and applied research, which will lead to scientific breakthroughs while significantly contributing to global sustainability.

WHAT ARE OUR GOALS?

• Develop frontier and fundamental technologies that will take us to a new level of excellence.

• Develop innovative products and services, as well as provide a unified interface for interaction with the industry.

• Offer excellent training and education to students and local engineers.

• Provide expertise to government and industry on policy, and long-term directions, as well as develop 6G technologies to improve critical social issues (e.g., sustainability, climate change).
